Case 1 - Gathering support to restore Jackson’s good name

Founder of the Michael Jackson Singapore Fan Club Catherine Soh, established the organization in November 2009, in hope of gathering support from fans in the Lion City and reaching out to fans around the world. She believes “there is a limit to the level on how media can be trusted” and that is one of the reasons for setting up a fan club and a website. "We want to spread the word through internet media, which is one of the most convenient and fastest way to reach out to fans and non-fans alike,”she said.

In an email reply, Ms Soh said: “Social internet media did play an important role in gathering the fans together. With it, we are always updated anytime and it''s one of the most convenient ways to reach out to more fans. Honestly, if there is 'no social internet media, it will be quite difficult for the club to be set up. Even if we do, it will take great deal of effort and time to promote it.”

At present, the club has about 60 members.

Fan clubs in other countries are also using the new media to unite together hosting group activities to continue their mission and one of them is Justice for Michael.
